6 Good Morning Habits For A Great Day!
How you spend the first 60 minutes when you wake up will directly affect your mood, energy levels, eating choices and overall productivity for the rest of your day! Here are a few practices that you can include in your morning routine to boost your day! You can do all of them or choose a few of them depending on how much time you have.
1. Begin your day with a positive mantra:
Create your own mantra and say it out loud as soon as you wake up! It may seem crazy in the beginning but really say it out loud as if you are announcing it to the world. This immediately sets the intension for the rest of your day. Your mantra could be something as simple as an “I am XXX” statement, for example:
I am strong!
or
I am willing!
or
I am ready!
Or it could be more detailed like:
“I will give my 100% to today.”
“I am happier and healthier today that I have ever been.”
A positive affirmation first thing in the morning can completely shift your outlook towards the rest of the day!
2. Meditate:
Meditating for as little as 5 minutes in the morning can create clarity and focus through the rest of your day. If it is hard for you to meditate, try guided meditations, where someone is talking to you through out the process. There are several online resources available for beginners.
3. Read a few pages of something that inspires you:
Your thoughts ultimately manifest into your actions, so it is really important to feed your mind with information that stimulates your senses and inspires you. A short early morning read can give your mind a big boost through the rest of the day.
4. Make your “to-do list”:
It’s very simple. If you don’t plan it, it’s not going to happen! Take a few minutes to make a detailed list of everything you need to do that day. Use a pen and paper or your phone/computer and get into as much detail as you can. Creating a “to-do list” can open up time slots through out the day that you can use to get things done. It can also give you a realistic view of how full your schedule is and you might have to move a few things to a later day.
5. Move your body:
Exercising first thing in the morning can boost your metabolism, get you more mental clarity and release endorphins that will naturally put you in a good mood through out the day! Plus, burining a few calories and giving your muscles some strain will make you learner and stronger over time. Choose the activity you like and move your body every morning!
6. Feed yourself whole, nutritious food:
Your first meal of the day should be loaded with whole food from natural sources instead of refined, sugary cereals, breads and muffins! This will help to boost your energy, control your appetite through the day, improve your mood and help you shed extra body fat! You can always make a quick smoothie if you are short on time!
